Organisation Tips - Bedroom & Wardrobe
If you dread putting away the washing because whenever you open your cupboard everything falls out or there's just no room for things, then you just need to have a good clean out and invest in some of the following storage solutions.
- Lazy butler - use a lazy butler (or a spare chair) to hang your clothes out ready for the next day or for those clothes that aren’t dirty or clean, i.e. worn for a few hours so okay to wear again but you don’t want to put back in your wardrobe.
- Organise your clothes - sort your clothes into seasons & type, e.g. winter/summer, long sleeve/short sleeve, dresses, tops, skirts, etc. so that you aren’t wasting time looking for things. Use vacuum storage bags to store clothes that you don’t wear very often or those bridesmaids' dresses you can’t bear to throw or give away and put them somewhere like under the bed or on top of your wardrobe where they’re not taking up valuable hanging & shelf space.
- Shoes - use vertical shoe hangers or horizontal racks depending on the space you have and sort your shoes into types/seasons, e.g. sandals together, trainers together, etc. and put the current season’s shoes at the front, i.e. the most accessible.
- Bags - attach some hooks to a wall to hang your handbags or for something more stylish you can get a handbag hanger.
- Scarves/belts - also hang scarves and belts on hooks or some kind of multi purpose hanger or in a box on top of your wardrobe, depending on the space you have and how often you use them.
- Ties - use a tie/belt organizer to keep them organised, rumple free and accessible.
- Hangers - use combined skirt/pant/jacket hangers to save space when hanging suits and use coat hangers with the hooks for dresses and strappy tops so you aren’t picking them up off the ground every five minutes.
- Dividers - put dividers (or small boxes) in your drawers to sort things like your underwear and socks.
- Use under bed storage containers - they are long and not very deep but great for things like kids memorabilia/artwork, gifts you’ve been buying throughout the year for birthday/xmas presents, wrapping paper/cards, linen, etc.
- Jewellrey - sort into types and what you wear the most and need easiest access too then get some storage options to suit your needs, e.g. necklace hangers; boxes for bracelets, bangles & earrings; earring stands or hanging storage systems which have individual clear pockets.
